Stratford Middle Years School

The Stratford Middle Years School is located on the second floor at the Falstaff Family Centre in Stratford, Ontario.

The concept of this grass roots program was conceived by two passionate teachers wanting to fulfill a need in the Stratford community for an inspired alternative educational option for children from Kindergarten to Grade 8. All lessons are taught by qualified and well experienced teachers who specialize in the classes in which they teach.

The focus of the classrooms is to provide a well-rounded program that will ensure a smooth transition for students to high school.

The school not only meets, it exceeds the requirements of the Ontario Curriculum. It specializes in Liberal Arts, including drama, music and art, French and Community and International Development Studies. The students are encouraged to have a global perspective and awareness as is apparent during our weekly school discussions about world events and through our international development projects such as the fresh water well that our students sponsored for a community in Nigeria. The children have also participated in local outreach programs including the Avon River “River Bank Restoration Project” and the Swift Bird School Program.

Stratford Middle Years School also provides the opportunity to participate in Outdoor Recreation in activities such as hiking, skiing, skating and baseball. The school’s central location on the Avon River, provide ample opportunity for students and teachers to visit the Festival Theatre, the library and other downtown Stratford amenities within walking distance. The unique and inviting heritage school building is a welcoming and safe place with a beautiful huge grassy yard and lots of space to run and play.
